Helsinki Geoeconomics Society is an independent, non-profit membership association. It brings together people interested in how economic power, law and strategy shape one another, and provides a setting for sustained intellectual exchange.
Helsinki Geoeconomics has grown organically from overlapping ideas, projects and collaborations. The Society, Helsinki Geoeconomics Week and Springer Studies formed the early foundation. The idea of a School was followed by Hegemon, the Helsinki Manual and The Geo-Economist, and the School developed into an organiser of symposia and conferences.
These activities have their own purposes and identities. Shared ideas and overlapping people connect them. Hegemon provides an active editorial entrance to this wider work.
The activities
- Hegemon — a geoeconomic review and intelligence digest.
- Helsinki Manual on Corporate Geoeconomics — a developing desk reference.
- Helsinki Geoeconomics School — organiser of symposia and conferences on corporate geoeconomics.
- Helsinki Geoeconomics Week — the annual flagship conference.
- Springer Studies in Law & Geoeconomics — a scholarly book series.
- The Geo-Economist — a freely available podcast.
Projects such as the New Helsinki Process connect several of these strands through research and deliberation.
Membership and participation
Membership contributions of different kinds support the Society’s work. Society membership, a Hegemon reader subscription and event registration are distinct ways to engage.
Get involved in 2027 to explore the programme and tell us which activities interest you. For the forthcoming Singapore event, see the inaugural Winter Conference 2026.
