Mr. Dan Hanqvist is the Deputy Director of the Helsinki Geoeconomics School. Before joining, he worked for over 30 years in London, Stockholm and Moscow as expert legal adviser to industry, financial institutions, governments and public bodies, primarily in matters of finance, corporate transactions and public-law regulation (including sanctions; direct foreign investments; defence; energy, mining and commodities; and double use products), including the management of the Swedish financial crisis of the early 1990s, the Russian Rouble crisis in 1998, the Great Financial Crisis and the ensuing automotive crisis. He has served as commander and staff officer in the Swedish Army.
Mr. Hanqvist has authored and co-authored over 100 articles and books for the academic and professional press. He regularly lectures at the University of Stockholm and in professional education.
He holds a Swedish law degree and a Bachelor of Science from Lund University, a Master of Laws from Edinburgh University and a Bachelor of Arts from Uppsala University. He has also earned academic credentials from the Swedish Defence University, the Universities of Stockholm, Gothenburg and Umeå, the Linnæus University, and Åbo Akademi University.
